UNCommon common sense
There are three types of IT infrastructure that companies employ these days. The first is legacy 3-Tier infrastructure (as described on Page 1) where you’ve got servers, storage, networking, firmware, virtualization software, and application software to manage. Depending on the vendor you use for each of these areas, the costs can be very significant when added up and totaled.
The second type of IT infrastructure is the Public Cloud. Many newer companies started off with a Public Cloud vendor as their IT infrastructure provider due to the lack of up-front capital needed to get going. Typically, users are able to sign up for various Public Cloud offerings themselves, which means that total control of what’s being used and the costs associated might not be easily understood. This is what our customers tell us.
The third approach is the modern IT infrastructure called Enterprise Cloud, where you use hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) for your on-premises infrastructure and Public Cloud for some of the workloads. HCI is a simpler architecture, and the amount of vendors involved is reduced significantly.
It’s not uncommon for IT spend to be coming from many departments in an organization these days, despite the effort to have centralized control. It’s a difficult job to understand your overall total cost of IT infrastructure, much less be able to control it easily.
Roundstone Solutions can help. Working with our partner Nutanix, we would like to offer to you and your organization a comprehensive Total Cost of Ownership review at no cost to you and your organization. This review would have us working with your team to gather all costs associated with operating and managing your existing operation, with an eye towards recommendations where you might be able to gain efficiencies.
There are projects that your organization needs to undertake, if only there was funding available. Well, we heard a customer say it best; “We can move forward with projects that are zero-cost upgrades”. What he was saying was that every project has to be justified by displaced costs of the old infrastructure. You’d be surprised at how easy this is to do when you really understand the cost of your current IT infrastructure.
There’s no downside to gaining understanding of your total cost of ownership and to be able to project more accurately into the future. Let us work with you and perform a TCO study with Nutanix. We can be reached at 925-217-1177 and email@example.com. We look forward to working with you.
