Hybrid-Cloud Infrastructure
In 2009, three engineers decided to develop a way for commercial users to run their on-premises IT infrastructure the same way that the hyperscalers were starting to do. To do this, they needed to write a new file system that could be used with commodity hardware, allowing for a high performing, resilient, simple, and less expensive way to do IT infrastructure.
The result is Hyper-Converged Infrastructure and the company that invented it is Nutanix. Roundstone is a focus partner for Nutanix in Northern CA, and has been working with Nutanix for 11 years.
Nutanix is the leader in this space and continues to evolve their HCI platform. Nutanix’s operating system can be used both on-premises as well as in the Public Cloud.
Users of Nutanix typically see four main benefits of the platform:
It’s far simpler for their staff to operate |
Scaling can be done in smaller increments when you need more compute or storage |
Systems performance is significantly improved due to the Nutanix architecture |
Costs are usually at least 40% lower than either legacy 3-tier or Public Cloud costs |
Tim Joyce was named Nutanix's top Channel Partner Sales Rep for the Americas for 2023. We know Nutanix very well.

Modern Backup and Recovery/Data Management and Security
Your organization’s data doesn’t just sit idly in a storage array. It’s located throughout your organization, in PCs, servers, storage arrays, and other devices. Older backup software wasn’t created to do much more than backup a storage array. You need more modern backup software to handle your organization’s data.
Modern backup approaches take advantage of the improvement that HCI has provided to the data center and combines it with software designed to back up everything. In fact, the founders of two of the primary vendors in this space (Cohesity and Rubrik) were initial founders of Nutanix. Additionally, modern software allows for an archival copy to be seamlessly sent to the Public Cloud, if desired.
Users of modern backup software report simplicity in managing backups along with significantly reduced costs compared to existing legacy backup software.
